One of my closest buddies is addicted to Valium. At first he was just using it for his insomnia. But after a while he started taking it daily and in higher doses. His personality has changed. He gets irritated really fast and his mood swings has taken a toll on our friendship. I tried to help him but he won't listen to me or anyone anymore. This makes me very sad.

I had a problem in college but thankfully I was able to stop once I graduated and moved away.

That's really sad. Doesn't he have a family? What about your other friends? Or are you his only friend? It would be easier if there are other people who want to help him. You could join forces.
